A beautiful, long-haired black cat padded silently into the middle of the clearing. There were two other cats sitting there, quietly waiting for her; one was bright orange, and he looked like he was glowing, and the other was gray, with striking blue eyes that would take your breath away.
"I have delivered the message," the black cat meowed. "We'll have to wait and see what happens to dear Morningstar."
The other two cats nodded.
The grey one stood up, a fierce light in his eyes. He faced the orange cat.
"Your Clan has taken our prey," he growled. "I hope it will not happen again."
The black cat flicked his ear with her tail. "There is no need to get worked up, Storm," she meowed smoothly. "Fire did not do anything wrong. He couldn't stop what Cheetahstar did. If he could, I bet you he would have stopped him. Besides, that was last moon."
Storm looked at the black cat. Then he sighed. "You are right, Fern," he whispered. "I am sorry."
Fire flicked Fern a look of gratitude. She nodded to him.
"We need to talk about this prophecy," Fern meowed. "Honeyfur's plan worries me. If we could show her what would happen if she murdered Morningstar, she would get scared out of her fur."
"Yes," Storm agreed. "The whole forest would be in danger if Honeyfur's plan worked."
"But we must wait and see," Fire added. "We may be in StarClan, but that doesn't mean we can predict the future."
Two she-cats padded by. One was a tortoiseshell, and the other was dark grey with white points. Fire, Fern and Storm kept silent as they padded by. These cats would find out later about the prophecy.
"That is all we had to discuss," Storm meowed. Fire stood up and stretched, ready to leave.
"Wait!" Fern yowled. "Should I tell Morningstar about...the secret?"
Fire's eyes grew wide. Storm gave Fern a look of disbelief. Storm opened his mouth, about to tell her what a mouse-brained idea that was, but Fire's tail flicked across his mouth.
"Best to wait, and let Morningstar find out on her own." Fire mewed gently.
Fern nodded, and left.
